On Sunday afternoon, May 6th, 2018, the litany of the sacred image of the Virgin Mary the Lambovitissa, along with the one of the Holy Resurrection took place in the village of Afra. His Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios was the main person in the litany.
In his speech, his Eminence emphasized that Our Lady was entitled to see first, along with the Myrrh-bearer women, Her Son, Risen from the Dead. Within this climate of joy, hope and Light, during the Easter Period that we go through, no Orthodox Christian can not remain silent about their faith, which is rooted in their hearts.
The greeting “Christ Risen, True He is Risen”, is not a wish, but a confession. All this in contrast to the spirit of modern times, where human applies literally, the plan of the dark centers of power, the New Order of Things, which has targeted our Orthodox homeland. The political world of Greece has succumbed to the clues of globalization, for the sake of supposedly the material, spiritual and moral progress of society. In fact, not only has our society not been promoted, but instead has been degraded both materially, spiritually and morally.
The Bishop of Corfu also condemned the attitude of members of the Parliament of Greece, on the occasion of the last vote of the bill, regarding the adoption of children of gay couples. As Orthodox Christians we do not condemn anyone. Everyone is free without God to do whatever they want. But if there are organizations to give children, these angels, in such hands, then criminality will increase with geometrical progress, because these children will be nursed by examples against nature.
In his closing, Mr. Nektarios asked the faithful to remain stable in the plagues of our infinite Faith, for our unique answer and hope is the Risen Christ. A spirit of resistance is now needed. As the unyielding mouth of our Lord assures us, “He shall not last, but he shall be saved.”
