On Tuesday morning, April 10, 2018, his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios did the Divine Liturgy in the Holy Church of Saint Spyridon the Wonderworker.
In his preaching, the Bishop of Corfu analysed the Gospel reading of the day, the route towards Emmaus of our Risen Lord with two of His 70 Disciples, Luke and Cleopas. Christ, seeing them frightened, explained to them everything the prophets had said about the Suffering and Resurrection of the Messiah. While the Lord spoke to them, their heart was “burned” with joy. Then, when the bread was cut, they realized that He was their Teacher.
In addition, his Eminence addressed the following questions to the faithful: How many times have they perceived that their hearts are burning for God and have been able to host the Lord in their hearts? How many times have they heard Christ telling them not to be afraid?
Finally, Mr. Nektarios stressed that we need to fire our heart with love for Christ, such as Saint Spyridon, who believed and served the Risen Lord. And the Lord glorified him back by preserving his graceful shrine indestructible for seventeen centuries.
