Bishop Nektarios

Metropolitan of Corfu , Paxoi and Diapontian Islends
His eminence Metropolitan of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands Nektarios Ntovas (his lay name was Dimitrios) was born in Volos in 1953.

He is a graduate of the Ecclesiastical Academy of Athens- also known as Rizarios- (1973), and the faculty of Theology of the University of Athens (1979). In 1973, he joined as a monk the fraternity of the Holy Monastery of Ano Xenia in Almyros (Magnesia, Volos).

On January the 1st,1975 he was ordained Deacon and on March 4th 1979, he was ordained Presbyter by the late Metropolitan Dimitriados and afterwards Archbishop of Athens Christodoulos, who gave him the benefice of Archimandrite.

He served as in charge of the pastoral work in the Holy Church of Saints Konstantinos & Eleni in Volos, where he developped his preaching, pastoral and philantrhopic activities.

From 1975 to 1986, he was director of the Private Office of his Eminence Metropolitan Dimitriados Christodoulos, while in 1986 he was elected Abbot of the historical Monastery of Ano Xenia, which he rebuilt in total.

He was a tactical member of Governing Committee of the Central Financial Service of the Church of Greece and he is a tactical archieratic member of Synodical Committee of Monasticism.

On October 11th, 2002, he was elected Metropolitan of corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands.

His Eminence Metropolitan Nektarios is author of spiritual books and he has published many articles in the daily press and magazines.
